In the mid-late 1930’s, the Sturgeon family made a trip to Kentucky to attend an early campmeeting atop Shepherdsville Hill. Under very unpleasant conditions, they traveled in their 1927 Hupmobile to be a part of what God was doing at that time.
It was in that particular meeting that bro. Daniel Sturgeon would give his life to the Lord, and be baptized with the Holy Ghost at twelve years of age.
Bro. Sturgeon was then water baptized in the old “duck pond” on the hill by Bro. William Sowders and other appointed men of God.
Since that time, Bro. Sturgeon has given his entire life to the ministry of the Gospel of Christ.
Bro. Sturgeon and the late Sis. Mary Lou had a dynamic ministry of teaching, preaching, and singing that led them all over this country and to numerous regions of the world.
Bro. Sturgeon remains a servant to the saints of God, ever lifting up the name of Jesus Christ while graciously contributing to the restoration of the church.

The preaching indianChief Raincloud was born in Muncey, in a reservation just outside of London, Ontario.
Raincloud left the tribal community and joined a laborers class in London. After landing a job, he got established into a boarding house headed by an elderly family. One evening, Raincloud heard the mother of the house praying late into the night before he realized, she was praying for him. “Oh God please save my indian son and bring him in.” Raincloud went on to join the war. After his discharge, he was walking away from the armory when he heard singing. He happened upon a little missions work, and there he had an encounter with the living God. He began to hold tent revivals and preach under raw conviction, drawing hungry crowds of saints and sinners who came to listen to a born-again Indian Chief peach the word of God. Brother sturgeon's parentsSomewhere around 1900, Gertrude “Gertie” Ede was born in a quaint little town just outside of London, England. There she lived with her family until they began making preparations to move to America in 1912.
At the young age of twelve, Gertie and her brother, George, were already booked to set voyage on the British passenger liner called “The R.M.S. Titanic”. Before departure, the Royal Ship became overbooked; forcing Gertie and George to board the next ship out. Unlike so many, the Ede family made it safely to the Untied States. They took residence for a brief period in Michigan, but given their British background it was only a matter of time before they relocated once more to Ontario, Canada. After the First World War, Chief Raincloud met Gertrude Ede and the two became acquainted, fell in love, and were married soon after. On July 17, 1925, George and Gertrude gave birth to their son, Daniel Sturgeon. A year or so later Bro. Raincloud was preaching a tent revival in Detroit, Michigan. Attending that evening was Bro. Reva Mears. Afterwards, the two were acquainted and bro. Mears would later take Bro. Raincloud to his first meeting in southern Illinois, where he would meet this fellowship called the Body of Christ. |
